Departure
taxes, Health and visas.
All participants are responsible for and must be in possession of a
full valid passport for the period of the tour. In addition they must
obtain visa and any necessary vaccination certificates required for the
tour. With confirmation of your booking all the necessary information
about passport, visa, and health requirements as well as details covering
climate, clothing will be sent to you.
Getting
here
Kenya is readily accessed by air from Europe, the USA, Southern Africa,
the Middle East and Australia to three international airports, Nairobi,
Mombasa and Eldoret. Our own national carrier Kenya Airways is a highly
regarded international carrier with a modern fleet of aircraft.
Tourist
visas are required by some foreign nationals, please contact your nearest
Kenyan High Commission for details.
Flights
(within Kenya)
For the flying packages (Kenya by air) we use scheduled flights within
Kenya. On a few cases we use charter flights, normally because direct
scheduled flights don’t exist or because charter flights are more
frequent or more suitably timed. In every case we provide you with a return
ticket that has been paid for in full prior to the start of the tour.
Most flights are direct though they may stop en route to drop or pick
up other passengers. Should you require the flights information please

Getting
around.
Scheduled and chartered internal flights to city, coastal and game park
destinations are offered by several domestic airlines.
We
use equipped and serviced safari vehicles to access to tour the country.
Private car hire and public transport services are also
available.
Our
historic railway has a weekly schedule between Nairobi and Mombasa. There
are weekly schedule rail services to Nanyuki, near Mt. Kenya.
Our
coast is part is a port of of call for cruise ships, private and chattered
yachts.
Accommodation
All over the East Africa we have accommodation that can cater for any
possible budget, taste, interest or preference. Hotels, hostels, luxury
tented camps, guest houses, resorts, campsites, backpacker lodge, village
home stays and more can be found.

East Africa has a single time zone which is GMT +3
Kenyan
Currency
The official currency in Kenya is the Kenyan shilling. Visitors to Kenya
should change foreign currency at Banks, Bureau de change or authorized
hotels. The easiest currencies to change are the US Dollars, Sterling
Pounds and Euros.
Travelers
cheques and credit cards are widely accepted in many hotels, and restaurants
.
Banking
Banks are open from 9.00am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday. Some branches
open on Saturdays 9am to 11am. many banks are now equipped with 24 hour
ATM machines. The bank branches at Jomo Kenyatta international
airport (Nairobi) and Moi International Airport both run 24-hour forex
services.
Communication
post
Kenya has a good postal service for both local and international post.
Many shops in tourist lodges and hotels sell stamps.
Telecommunications
Kenya has a good network of telephone, cellular and satellite
connections. Most hotels and lodges offer international telephone and fax
services. In larger towns, private telecommunications centers also offer
international services
If
you have a mobile connection with a roaming connection, then you can make
use of Kenya's excellent cellular networks, which covers most larger towns
and tourist areas.

calling Kenya, the international code is +254+local area code.
Internet
Kenya has good Internet Service Providers. Many hotels and lodges
offer email and internet services. In most towns, there are plenty of
private business centers and cyber cafes offering email and internet
access.
Electricity
The electricity supply in Kenya is 220/240v 50hz. Plugs are 3 point
square.
If you are planning to bring a video camera charger or any other
electrical advice, please bring voltage and plug adaptors where
appropriate.
Risk,
Insurance and liability.
The hazards of traveling in undeveloped areas may inevitably give rise
to some risks and dangers . In certain cases
these risks and dangers may lead to death, injury, delay, loss, damage
or change of itinerary.
Travel
insurance is essential these days and we insist that suitable cover be
affected as soon as you book your tour.
Please
note we are offer evacuation cover incase of sickness and
accidents only to be
undertaken by the emergency flying doctors, we therefore
advice you to take adequate health insurance cover .
Special
request.
Any special requests (e.g. single room or particular diet) must be notified
in writing when the booking is made. Whilst the Adventure Vacations East Africa Co. will endeavor
to meet such requests they cannot be guaranteed and any failure to comply
will not be a breach of contract.
Tipping
Tips are not included in the cost of your tour price.. Your tour leaders can advice you on
sensible local rates at the start of the tour. You are invited
to contribute if you feel the services provided warrant it.
Information
accuracy - changes and errors.
Please note the holiday's information may change by the time you book
your holiday. Whilst every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the
tour plans, regrettably errors do occasionally occur. You must therefore
ensure that you check all details of your chosen holiday arrangements to
confirm all is in order as per your request.
